OIL & GAS

Driving improvements in the industry since 1982. From Tripod and Hearts and Minds, to developing the best understanding of the causes of the Deepwater Horizon incident, Hudson Global Consulting has remained at the forefront of improvements in safety for the Oil and Gas sector.

From the moment that Shell knocked on a non-descript door in Leiden University Hudson Global has been intertwined with the leaps that the industry has made in Safety. That fateful knock was the start of the Tripod program, leading to the Organisational Accident Model (better known as Swiss Cheese) that revolutionized the industry in the 1990s. In the 2000s, attention was given to an idea that had been brewing since 1991, the Hudson Culture Ladder. Using the insights together with a great team of academics, practitioners and strong support Hearts and Minds was born. This people centric approach to managing Safety delivered a step change in safety outcomes in the industry. It remains one of the most important tools for managers in lower developed cultures that are striving to improve the safety outcomes in their operation. A balanced approach creating understanding of management’s role in incident causation combined with a toolset available in many languages makes sure that the impact is felt to this very day.

From 2010 on HGC has been striving to push industry understanding, often in combination with the Society Of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). Working in more challenging corporate environments has honed the tools HGC uses to effect change in the most efficacious manner.
